Eew... zero stars! My husband and I tried their pho, a spicy salmon roll, and spicy tuna roll. The pho came out lukewarm, the rolls were soggy and the taste covered in sauce. Not to mention one of my rolls had a hair in it. I went to point it out to the manager and he acted like he didn't see it, even with me pointing right at it. They made me a new roll, but I ended up still weary about it. Ugh... go somewhere else for fast asian food. Not worth the money. Walked away disgusted and unsatisfied.

Horrible. We tried 3 sandwiches, vermicelli bowl, and spring rolls. Everything was bad, poor quality and ingredients did not seem like they were fresh. The service was the horrible! The guy didn't even smile instead he looked irritated and annoyed. When my order was ready they were like "hey" like I was a street rat and handed me my food..no thank u ...nothing! ....they made me feel like I was a begged or something. ..when I clearly paid for my food. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

The guy at the counter cook/owner or whatever is always in a grumpy mood I feel like. He doesn't smile and his customer service skills are terrible. I've only been here twice and both times was a horrible experience. The food isn't good quality and lacks flavor!

This place is pretty upsetting. They provide a variety of diff types of ASian food such as pho, banh mi, Chinese food and sushi. I got the lunch special that came with teriyaki chicken mushrooms, veggies, rice and two caterpillar rolls. The sushi tasted old and the chicken was way too salted. It was drenched in pure oyster sauce. Customer service was also poor, the workers and cooks should smile, and give better vibes to their customers.

I came in today 4/7/15 at 1147am, to a mostly empty establishment, followed by two groups comprised of a party of 4 and a party of 5. I ordered an avocado boba shake and a #4 crunch roll, to go. I sat there and waited and waited and waited, and was quite dismayed that the food, the 9 people who came in after me ordered, was prepared and served first... Even the people who were getting their food before me, gave me sympathetic looks... Then, one of the cooks behind the counter started pointing at me and gesturing to someone in the back, to hurry and get my food. I felt totally forgotten, and stressed for time, as I had to get back to work. They came out with my drink and I asked if my order was ready, to which they replied, "Not yet..." I kept waiting, as everyone who had come-in after me, enjoyed their lunch... Finally, as my order came up, I was able to eat back at my desk at work. Both the avocado shake and the rice in the crunch roll tasted faintly, but distinctly of industrial cleanser... I really wish I hadn't tipped when I placed my order...

I am writing this as my food is being made. I would never come back again because the customer service is so terrible. The old man at the front is angry and they stare at you while you look over the menu. Tip: if you dont want customers shut down then. These guys are idiots and dont know to treat customers. If the food is the best Ive ever had I still wouldnt return.

Very nice staff. We chatted with the owner a bit. My hubby and I were here two weeks ago. I ordered the Pho...... one of the most uninspired Pho I've ever had. Good price, nice portion, deep lack of flavor. My husband ordered the Orange Chicken. He didn't bother to finish it. Little flavor, and not well made. We won't be going back.

The worst sushi we have ever eaten. Our tempura rolls were suppose to have spicy mayo on them but it tasted like fry sauce. Fry sauce and sushi do not mix well.

Who cares what the name is or where you think they got it from. The food has always been good for us. They may not be the most social people but it's good and fast. One of my favorite fast food places. Plus the price is great for the food.

I purchased the Seafood noodle Pho soup. The Pho broth tastes like water, the basil and sprouts were not fresh out dried out. The meat was Imitation Crab and 3 small Shrimps. Not very many Noodles for a Bowl that runs $7.50 Definitely not something I would ever order again here, I love Pho but I'd never order here again unless they change their recipe. The Pho broth was the most disappointing.

I read the previous reviews hoping to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Take heed the reviews are keeping it 100. Our food was awful. Where you would expect a nice portion of chicken or beef, it was a quarter of the expectation and terribly small half of bite sized pieces. No taste at all and their idea of extra teriyaki sauce is a tablespoon. The noodles were mostly cold and warm in places and the beef was burnt. The rice tasted like there was no salt put in the water or something it was weird. No go.

I'm confused. Tokyo City? Banh mi and pho making up most of the menu? Hrm. The gentleman working at the counter was a bit surly. It was also about 105 degrees inside, despite it being a blustery winter day outside. It was so stifling there is no way I could have stayed to eat, so we ordered a couple of boba drinks to go. Very stingy on the tapioca. For a regular size boba costing nearly $4, I would expect more than 5 actual tapioca balls in there. The drink itself had a weird aftertaste, almost like meat. It's hard to describe. It's like the essence of what they were cooking (which smelled tasty!) wafted it's way into the boba mix. It didn't taste good mixed with coconut. My daughter didn't seem to mind, as she snarfed hers down before we got home. I would maybe go back to try the food out of pure curiosity. I love banh mi and the prices were low. Whatever they were cooking smelled delicious, just get it to go.

Its cheap, its fast, its Japanese and its Vietnamese. And I cant shake the idea that the owners based this restaurant off of City Wok (see South Park s15.e06 -City Sushi). The overall quality of food can be outclassed by most other places in this neighborhood. The orange chicken combo is simply orange chicken and chow mein and tasted OK. The Pho bowl had very few pieces of meat and lackluster. Bonus: neither sits well in the stomach. There's a Panda express not far if you are craving fast food asian.

NO STARS FOR YOU! I have been here 2x and the first time was not so bad, but over the weekend it was all BAD. what kind of restaurant is dead at lunch time on a Saturday, it will not surprise me to see this place not make it, food here is gross I have tried the spring rolls, Pho, and rice/noodle bowls and it seems as if all they know how to cook is teriyaki chicken. They always get your order wrong and argue with you when you tell them it's wrong. SUSHI BAD,PHO BAD,SERVICE BAD and good luck trying to get a smile out of these guys.

#6 Chicken, beef, shrimp yakisoba. Never disappoints! Do you remember Edo Japan from the mall? Same dish.

Their sushi is one of the worst I've ever had in my life. Rice was soggy and made up 3/4 of the roll. The actual freshness of both the tuna and salmon was questionable. I wasn't even able to finish it.

One star is waaay too generous. The two guys that were there just gave us dirty looks from the minute we walked in. Not the least bit friendly. I had the teriyaki chicken combo. When they handed me the tray it was covered and sticky with grease! Then I noticed that the place is filthy. The egg roll had obviously been sitting around for quite a while. It was barely warm and soggy. I didn't even think it was possible to make a soggy egg roll.?? The chicken was the best part and it wasn't good. $9 and I ended up eating just a few, very small pieces of chicken, just so I didn't throw the WHOLE thing straight in the trash. I'd like my money back. WE WONT BE BACK! I walked out of Tokyo City just as hungry as I walked in, so we literally walked next door to Jimmy John's and ordered a Billy club sandwich. IT was very good!

Fast, cheap, and decent enough for the price. You get what you pay for though, so avoid the sushi rolls and stick with the chicken bowls and terriyaki plates. Don't expect "sevice with a smile" here either. The people who work here are efficient but not too friendly.

Happened to see this place when I was browsing around the little strip malls on 5600 West. Unfortunately, Buffalo Wild Wings isn't open yet so I decided to give this restaurant a try, not knowing what to expect. You know those Japanese stands in the mall food courts? That's basically what Tokyo City is, but in restaurant form. The original location is in Valley Fair Mall and they expanded to another location here. There's a couple signs that promote their lunch specials which are cheaper and include something extra like an eggroll. You can expect the usual quick Japanese entrees like the Teriyaki Chicken, Grill Shrimp, and Yakisoba. Along with some additional goodies like Bento and Udon. I got the Teriyaki Chicken...and although it wasn't that bad, it's definitely ranks along the bottom of all the Teriyaki Chicken entrees that I've tried. I found some Teriyaki clumps in my sauce, as if there were pieces of Teriyaki jello. I wonder if they actually make their own sauce or if it's from those instant packets. I have no idea why I ordered one of their sushi rolls...but I did. Their tempura roll was definitely something like I've never seen before. When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was the rice layer was thicker than normal. The contents (shrimp, egg, etc.) of the rolls tasted fine but the rice was so soggy and sour. My advice? Leave sushi to the sushi restaurants. Overall, the food isn't UNBEARABLE but it's one of those places that you would only go to if all the good restaurants were closed for the day. The staff was nice, although they seemed tired and worn out. Another thing I noticed is that both the cashier and cook were Vietnamese. This might be the reason that the food isn't that good...it's not authentic. But you can't complain when the food is quick and cheap. A considerable place when you're in a hurry and craving Japanese.

Worst Japanese food on the planet. I went here because I had an entertainment book coupon. First they refused to accept it. That should have been my first clue, refusing to honor their own coupon. But since I was in a hurry and still needed lunch, I paid full price, about 6.50 for a chicken bowl, hardly any vegetables (unlike the picture) and there was plenty of chicken, but it literally made me sick to my stomach. I hope anyone reading this won't ever go here.

I got a Bento Box here just to try it out and I was severely disappointed. The meal came with two California rolls that were mostly rice, a heavily oily vegetable egg roll, and the main part of the meal was just beef, rice, and lettuce with a generic teriyaki sauce ladled on top. This made for a very dissatisfying lunchtime experience. Oh, the price you pay when you try new places sometimes.

So, in a strange way, this place is actually quite authentic. Several times while traveling through Tokyo I've stopped into places very similar to this---funky neon signs decorating the outside, even a modern flat-screen tv blaring Japanese programming. And yes, even the meat in the PHO was a bit of a mystery, and I do mean mystery. Tasted more like seasoned cow tongue vs the steak it was said to be.... But don't let that deter you. It's strip mall fabulous with a hint of not-so-much. Overall, let's just say, if you're feeling adventurous, and aren't picky, try it. But keep in mind, you may be traveling on The Mystery Meat Express. Travel at your own risk.....
